I have several other articles in the works on Naija music, but once I discovered this guy's music, I had to zoom him straight to the front of the line!
Over 20 years ago we lost the man, the legend, the conscience of the nation and most importantly the voice of the people, Baba 70, Fela Anikulapo Kuti. His two sons have carried the mantle in their own way, countless Gbosa's for Femi Kuti and Seun Kuti. But as the years rolled on, I yearned for other Naija artists to embrace the original Afrobeat music genre, to carry the mantle, even though several of the country's greatest talents have consistently given a nod to Fela's legacy on several tracks in their music, none have so far embraced the Fela persona through and through...
...That was until M-Josh hit the airwaves and landed on the scene. I now firmly believe M-Josh has truly, honestly and genuinely embraced the Fela persona and will hopefully carry on with the legacy that is still very much badly needed in Naija today. I'll be back with a more in depth look into this young man's music, but for now, enjoy this track from him, Audio Government and tell me is this not Fela, in 2020... even down to the gbana! 😁 Also what has the government done with all the donated money... Question, question looking for answer abi? You can watch and listen to some of his other music on NaijaGistings New Naija beats.
Anoda question for you? Why are Naija sweating laik Christmas goat? Go look for the answer from M-Josh
